The candle sticks
Both shaped as winged boys in a lively and dynamic pose, carrying an urn with a mask, wrapped with vines serving as candle holders. Signed on the bronze foot Aug.t Moreau mounted on a marble base.
Auguste Moreau
Auguste Moreau (1834 – 1917) was the son of sculptor Jean-Baptiste-Louis-Joseph Moreau. Auguste and his brother would become sculptors just as their father. Auguste is one of the best known sculptors of 19th Century France, famous for his romantic and child figures.
