Description
10-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals signed Hilgers A Paris, finely pierced and engraved ormolu hands, 8-day spring driven movement with anchor escapement and silk suspended pendulum, half hour countwheel striking on a bell, fitted in a fluted white marble columns adorned with fine foliate ormolu mounts, surmounted by an armillary sphere, flanked by the finely cast and chiseled gilt bronze figure of Urania the muse of science, a draped curtain and books on the other side, the whole on a grey marble oval plinth with classical ormolu mounts raised on toupee feet with acanthus leaves.
