A South German gilt copper striking and alarm ‘Türmchenuhr’ table clock, circa 1620
Description
5.9-cm engraved dial with Roman numerals I-XII and touch knobs, an inner ring calibrated 13-24, single blued hour hand and engraved alarm disc, brass posted double fusee movement with plain balance, hour countwheel striking on a bell indicated by a subsidiary dial with Arabic numerals on the reverse with touch knobs, alarm on a bell, gilt copper case throughout adourned by foliate engraved strapwork, surmounted by a cuppola on a pierced gallery topped by a gadrooned finial, ornamental urns on the corners, panels with glass panels and pilasters on rectangular bases, placed on an ogee shaped base with further strapwork.
