engraved pewter plates signed J. Stopanni fec. Amsterdam, mahogany case with chequered inlay.

Joannes Stop(p)an(n)i was born in Italy in 1764 and is recorded working in Amsterdam from circa 1795. After 1815 he works together with his son Nicolaas Josephus (Stoppanni & Zoon) Lit. Bert Bolle, Barometers in Beeld pp. 241.
