Description
The dial
The enamel dial has Roman numerals for the hours and is signed A.(augus)te Wolff A Paris. The outer rim has five minute marking and around the centre there are date numerals. The beautifully foliate pierced and engraved hands are made of gilt brass. The date hand is made of blued steel.
The movement
The flat bottomed movement has two spring barrels and a duration of eight days. It is regulated by anchor escapement in combination with a silk suspended pendulum. The clock has half hour striking on a bell by means of a countwheel.
The case
The white marble case is extensively decorated with fine ormolu mounts. It is surmounted by an urn with heavy garlands trailing to the sides. The front has intricate foliate ornament. The flat plinth with rounded ends is raised on gadrooned feet.
