A minature German ‘Sorg’ alarm wall timepiece, circa 1840
Description
4.7-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals, blued steel hands and engraved brass alarm disc, chased brass surround with a buste of Mercury in the arch, day-going weight driven movement with anchor escapement and alarm on a bell, wooden case with doors to the sides, hung by hoop and spurs, the back with monogram F.I.P., and labeled Camerer, Faller & Co. Clockmakers, 2 Broad Street Bloomsbury London.
