Description

The spring driven mechanism is stamped NICOLE FRERES A GENEVE and 22435. It plays one of four tunes with a 20.5 cm cylinder on a finely toothed comb. The burr elm box has string inlay and a hinged side panel. Behind this there is the winding arbor and three operating levers. One for play/stop playing, one for repeating/change melody and the last for direct stop playing. The tunes are;

  1. Valse de Venise
  2. Wreath of Roses
  3. Rory O’More
  4. Fine old English Gentleman

This mechanical instrument plays lovely and clear. It is astonishing how such a compact box can sound has such a full sound.
