Description
The presentation stand
The sculptural patinated bronze presentation stand is in the form of an ostrich. On the back of the animal there is a gilt canopy with cloisonne enamel decoration. On the oval white onyx base lined with further cloisonne enamel there is a gilt figure in Eastern dress.
The miniature clock
Depicted on the 3-cm wide polychrome porcelain dial is a girl in a landscape below the Arabic numerals. The spade hands are made of blued steel.
The movement
The movement is driven by a spring barrel and has eight day duration. It is being regulated by a platform lever escapement with a bi-metallic balance with adjustment screws. The backplate of the movement is silvered.
The case
The rectangular gilt brass case has finely cut mouldings and is surmounted by a handle. There is a beveled glass panel on top which shows the escapement. There are further beveled glass panels to all sides. The moulded base is raised on flat feet.
