Description

The dial

The 14-cm enamel dial with Roman numerals has inner date marking 1-31. The Breguet hands are made of blued steel just as the sweep seconds and central date pointer. The centre is signed Folin à Paris. The dial is surrounded by a beautifully acanthus engraved hinged glazed bezel.

The movement

The well made movement has flat bottomed plates. It is driven by two spring barrels and has a duration of at least eight days. It is regulated by pinwheel escapement in combination with a steel suspended gridiron pendulum with beat adjustment to the crutch. The clock strikes the hours and half hours by means of a countwheel on a bell.

The case

The architectural case is surmounted by a gable top on which a gilt bronze casting of two griffins. Below this there is a nice moulding with an ormolu rim incorporated. The rectangular middle part has glass panels to all sides which are lined with ormolu mouldings. The flat base has an ebony and ormolu moulding. To the front there is an ormolu casting with two goats eating from a basket with vines and grapes.
